Accusation Checker

The accusation checker on the Check Your Accusation page does not store, log, or transmit any data beyond the immediate server-side comparison. Your submitted name, codes, and page number are compared against private environment variables and discarded. No email address is collected. No cookies are set by the checker. No record of your submission is retained.

Email Processing

Email addresses submitted through the corrections form, the Hidden Witness Bonus Challenge, or the newsletter signup are processed through Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), a third-party email service provider. Brevo processes this data on behalf of Violet Ashford in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.

Your email address will never be sold, rented, or shared with any third party for marketing purposes. It is used only for the specific purpose for which it was submitted.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the newsletter, you may receive periodic emails about new books, puzzles, and updates from Violet Ashford and Pencil & Page Puzzles. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. Use that link to unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

Newsletter unsubscribe requests should be handled through the unsubscribe link in the email footer so Brevo can process the request automatically and accurately.

Hidden Witness Bonus Challenge

The Hidden Witness Bonus Challenge is optional. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to submit your answers along with your email address. This information is submitted through Brevo and is used solely to verify your answers and deliver bonus content related to the challenge.

Submitting the Hidden Witness Bonus Challenge form does not subscribe you to the newsletter. Your email address will not be used for marketing unless you separately opt in to the newsletter. If your answers are correct, you will receive a response with the bonus content. If your answers are incorrect, you may be notified so you can try again.

Corrections Form

The corrections form allows readers to report possible errors in the book, puzzle materials, or companion case desk. Correction reports may include your email address, the page or location of the issue, the correction details you provide, an IP address, and a timestamp. This information is used only to review, verify, and respond to correction reports.

Hosting and Infrastructure

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical data, such as IP addresses, as part of its standard hosting and security services. Cloudflare may set a __cf_bm cookie for bot management purposes. This cookie is strictly functional and is not used for tracking or advertising. For more information, see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies, does not track individual users, does not collect personal information, and does not follow visitors across sites. It provides aggregate data only, such as page views and referral sources. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

Cookies

This site does not set any first-party cookies for advertising or behavioral tracking. The only cookie that may appear is __cf_bm, set by Cloudflare for bot management. This cookie is classified as strictly necessary, expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, and is not used for advertising or behavioral tracking.

Hidden Witness Bonus Challenge submissions are retained for the purpose of verifying bonus challenge completion and delivering bonus content; they are not used for any other purpose. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting the Case Desk.
